West Seneca Students Pledge Not to Drink and Drive or Text

WEST SENECA, NY--  It's a message that police and others have tried for years to hammer home.

Some local high school students are getting it and pledging not to text while behind the wheel or drink and drive.

Their pledge was unique in that the students at West Seneca West High School created a "chain of life" by signing pieces of red and green paper and connecting them.

Members of the high school club "Students Against Destructive Decisions" and peer counselors lead this effort.

The chain of life is displayed prominently in the school to serve as a reminder for all students, and faculty about the dangers of texting while driving and drinking and driving.

We here at Two on Your Side are also big on spreading the word about the dangers of these two behaviors.

Students Take Pledge to Not Drink and Drive

WEST SENECA, NY - A large group of students at West Seneca West Senior High School have pledged to not drink and drive.

Students, members of Students Against Destructive Decisions and Peer Counseling groups have created a "Chain of Life" by which they committed to their peers to not drink and drive.

New York State Senator Tim Kennedy was at the high school Thursday to commend the students. "The chain of life, as the students will let you know, is a vow -- a commitment by each and every one of these students not to drink and drive, not to text and drive, and practice safe and legal driving."

The chain was hung throughout the hallways of the building as a constant visual reminder of their pledge.
