South Buffalo Charter School Goes Bald for Bucks

School raised more than $10,000 last year

Teachers have often said that students can sometimes make them want to rip out their hair. Today, students at South Buffalo Charter School cheered with delight as several faculty members watched their hair fall to the floor.

The occasion was a happy one for the students and teachers alike, as the school held its annual Bald for Bucks fundraiser to support Roswell Park Cancer Institute. A celebratory atmosphere, complete with music, games, popcorn and cotton candy, filled the school gymnasium as teachers, staff members, students and guests lined up to shed some locks in support of cancer research.

“This has become a signature event that our entire school community looks forward to,” said Carrie Dzierba, Head of Schools, South Buffalo Charter School. “The way that everyone at South Buffalo Charter School has embraced this effort with their enthusiasm and generosity is remarkable.”
